We were approached by Vienna House to design and build a network of websites for their Vagabond Club collection of hotels and townhouses. It needed a modern feel, but juxtaposed against a rekindling of the traditional ‘grand hotel’ feel.
We incorporated a combination of offset layouts to provide a level of sophistication, whilst still keeping elements sharp to hark back to a ‘Neue’ modernist aesthetic. This is further reinforced by large typography, showcasing the unique qualities of Cabinet Grotesk. We implemented this as a variable font, which allows us to access various weights from a single file. This allows for versatility, but also reduces the download size of the page, making it quicker for users to access.
This project is built on a WordPress multisite network with WPML multilingual capability. This allows for easy management of hotels on a site-by-site basis, and can accommodate additional hotels should the collection expand in the future.
